The British Society of Magazine Editors (BSME) is the only society in the UK exclusively for magazine and website editors and senior editorial staff. Our aim is to represent the needs and views of all editors - providing a strong, clear voice for our industry. Our strapline is 'Championing Editorial Excellence'. At the BSME, we are committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of our Members, visitors to our website and recipients of our newsletter.
This is how we treat data that we collect:
We send regular newsletters to notify members and non-members about events, awards and general news about the Society. We may also send direct emails relating to the Society’s activities or requesting information.
We use a third party provider, Vertical Response, to deliver our newsletter. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. For more information, please see Vertical Response’s privacy notice.
You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails or by emailing admin@bsme.com.
You can request access to the personal data we hold on you at any time and we will provide the information to you within one month.
If you believe that any information we are holding on you is inaccurate or incomplete, please contact us at admin@bsme.com as soon as possible. We will promptly correct any information found to be inaccurate.

Please note: data is stored indefinitely as the administrators of the Society are required to keep a full history of activity of both members and non-members.
DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
We will not share Personal Information collected through our Website with unrelated third parties, except as provided in this Privacy Policy. We may share Personal Information with companies that we contract with to perform services for us, such as assisting us with our mailing campaigns or other data processing, where they need your Personal Information to perform the service for us. These companies are not authorised to keep or use your Personal Information for any other purpose.
NON-PERSONAL INFORMATION
As the BSME website is hosted by Squarespace and analytics recorded by Google, please note, these Companies may collect information about your activity on and interaction with their Services, such as your IP address(es), your device and browser type, the web page you visited before coming to our site, what pages on our site you visit and for how long and identifiers associated with your devices. If you’ve given permission through your device settings, they may collect your location information in their mobile apps.
SECURITY
We aim to ensure that your Personal Information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place appropriate physical, technical and organisational measures to safeguard and secure the Personal Information we collect.
Please keep in mind, however, that no Internet transmission is 100% secure. Some emails sent to or from our Website may not be secure. Please consider this when sending information to us by email.
CHOICE / OPT OUT
